Colombia: Residents of Barranquilla Started by a Light in the Sky

The case occurred at noon. A video shows onlookers crowding the exterior of a shopping center, looking at the sky.

At noon on Thursday, citizens piled outside the entrance to a shopping center to look at a strange light that shone over the downtown Barranquilla for a few minutes.

One of the people present at the site took notice when he saw a street vendor looking at the sky. Moments later, the man alerted everyone, saying there was a dot in the sky "changing colors."

At first the passers-by thought it was a drone, but changed their minds when they noticed it was at a higher elevation than is customary for drones. They later opined that it was a police helicopter, but the object remained fixed in place.

Finally, some said the object that could be seen between the Cathedral and the Nelmar building could be "an alien spacecraft". In any event, the phenomenon attracted dozens of pairs of eyes bent on dispelling its mystery.

The Oficina dels Servicio de Pronósitcos y Alertas (Forecasting and Alert Office) of the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) claimed having no reports whatsoever about the phenomenon or unidentified flying objects seen at noon over Barranquilla.

The agency viewed the video and the images, saying they would subject this material to analysis "to see what might have happened."

Meanwhile, a person from the No. 3 Combat Air Command, an operating unit of the Air Force stationed in Malambo, Atlántico, claimed "having no information in his regard."

Finally, an employee at the Ernesto Cortissoz Airport stated that no object was seen and that it would be "very hard to do so" because the other object would have to have technology similar to their own.
