The American Civil Liberties Union has released an open letter to president-elect Donald Trump, warning him to reconsider his stance on a number of controversial issues, specifically his stated policies that would result in the violation of human rights, including:
- amass a deportation force to remove 11 million undocumented immigrants
- ban the entry of Muslims and institute aggressive surveillance programs targeting them
- restrict a woman’s right to abortion services
- reauthorize waterboarding and other forms of torture
- change our nation’s libel laws and restrict freedom of expression
Mincing no words, the ACLU's letter spells out what is fundamentally wrong with these plans:
